A lonely call – Original art – Acrylics on canvas
The elusive cuckoo calls from the branches of a strangler fig. One of the most selfish, a cuckoo instinctively eliminates all the other eggs in the nest as a tiny baby just a day or two old. The mother cuckoo is another example of reckless behavior and parenting, abandons her eggs in another bird’s nest. Indian devout poets have often compared their prayers to cuckoo calls, as an allegory to renunciation of selfish and demonic acts to attain nirvana.
